What the (bleep) does Tyrese know?

Something beautiful happened on tv last night. Something I haven’t seen in a long time in reality television or television, in general, for that matter. We finally get a show that showcases a black family unit based on love and commitment. No ratchetness needed.

In case you’ve been living under a rock or stuck watching Sunday football with your honeybun, you missed a great premiere last night on VH1′s network. The show entitled, Lala’s Full Court Wedding.

The show follows MTV host Lala and husband-to-be, basketball star, Carmelo Anthony as they prepare to jump the broom.

I must admit, I was a little skeptical as to what show had to offer, but to my surprise it was an overall good wedding show. During the first episode we catch a glimpse of Lala’s personal dilemmas of handling the wedding on her own. We meet her mother and find out she isn’t receptive to La’s dad participating. And finally we get some words of advice from Lala’s dear old pal, actor Tyrese Gibson!

Now I’m a huge sucker for wedding shows, so this show reeled me in, instantaneously. However, at the end of the episode I had only one question: WHAT THE (BLEEP) DOES TYRESE KNOW?

I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but is it ok to give advice on something you know nothing about?

Let me back up for a sec! During the show Lala has lunch with Tyrese. The lunch date quickly turns sour as Tyrese begins to interrogate Lala, as if she isn’t prepared for marriage. ( sidenote: Lala and Carmelo have been engaged for 7 years… I would guess, by now she should be plenty of ready)

This is what he said:

Why are you not hanging out with married women who have been married for a long time? You can’t be in the spirit of being married, hanging out with a bunch of single people. I’m not telling you to get rid of all of your friends but they are not in the same space that you are in…

Do you agree with his advice? Do you think that because you’re married you should only surround yourself with married women? Does Tyrese think that his marriage failed because his ex-wife was hanging out with single women? 0_O

I kid, I kid….

But honestly, I believe that his advice was idiotic. Your friends are your friends and that shouldn’t change because of marital status. Let me know what you think in the comment section below… Oh and also check out the episode from  last night here –>
